 Whether they recognize it or not, every living person is in the midst of a spiritual battle: unbelievers are “following the course of this world … the prince of the power of the air” (Eph.2:2; see 2Cor.4:4), and believers “submit [themselves] to God” and “resist the devil” (Jms.4:7; see 1Pet.5:9).  This does not mean that believers are immune to spiritual temptation, or impervious to spiritual attack.  But it does mean that the true Christian is led and protected by God.
