Pastor David's Weekly Devotional
The New Year entices us to think about new things, and to reflect upon that which is past. It is a great time for contemplation and evaluation. Most importantly, it is a great time for spiritual reflection and correction. In the Bible, we read that God exhorted His people to consider their ways (Hag.1:5), to confess their sins (1Jn.1:9), and to examine and re-examine their lives (1Cor.11:28; 2Cor.13:5) – not just on New Year’s Day but all throughout the year. In fact, we are to ask the Lord, in sincere and earnest prayer, to examine our very motives, attitudes and thoughts so that we can be purified and strengthened according to His will. “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” (Ps.139:23-24).Recent
