Pastor David’s Weekly Devotional
One of my most cherished books is the relatively new hymnal “Hymns of Grace.”  It contains traditional and contemporary worship songs, that are great to read, sing, and pray!  With that in mind, here are my ten most favorite “traditional” hymns (this is harder than it looks):

How Great Thou Art by Stuart Wesley and Keene Hine
“And when I think, that God His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in.  That on the cross, My burden gladly bearing; He bled and died, to take away my sin.”
It is Well with my Soul by Horatio Spafford
“My sin, O the bliss of this glorious tho't, my sin not in part but the whole; is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord O my soul.”
Amazing Grace by John Newton
“Amazing grace!  How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.  I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see.”
The Church’s One Foundation by Samuel John Stone and Samuel Sebastian Wesley
“Mid toil and tribulation and tumult of her war, She waits the consummation of peace forevermore.  Till with the vision glorious Her longing eyes are blest, and the great Church victorious shall be the Church at rest.”
Come Thou Fount by John Wyeth and Robert Robinson
“O to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be.  Let Thy grace Lord like a fetter, bind my wand'ring heart to Thee.  Prone to wander Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.  Here's my heart Lord take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.”
Holy, Holy, Holy by Reginald Heber
“Holy, Holy, Holy!  Lord God Almighty!  All Thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea.  Holy, Holy, Holy!  Merciful and Mighty!  God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!”
When I Survey the Wondrous Cross by Isaac Watts
“Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small; Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.”
Rock of Ages by Augustus Montague Toplady and Thomas Hastings
“Rock of Ages cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee; let the water and the blood, from Thy wounded side which flowed; be of sin the double cure, save from wrath and make me pure.”
Great is Thy Faithfulness by Thomas Obediah Chisholm and William Marion Runyan
“Great is Thy faithfulness, Great is Thy faithfulness; Morning by morning, new mercies I see; all I have needed, Thy hand hath provided; Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.”
Victory in Jesus by Eugene M. Bartlett
“O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever, He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him; He plunged me to victory, beneath the cleansing flood.”

Together in and for Christ,
Pastor David
