Fear can be debilitating, and anxiety can be consuming. When we take our eyes off of the Lord, and focus too much on problems in this world (e.g. personal and national debt, sickness and death, threats of wars and civil unrest, etc.), we can lose sight of God’s power, presence and promises. Like Peter, when our eyes become fixed on the storms of this life and not the Savior of our souls, we can sink into the depths of fear and faithlessness (cf. Matt.14:22-33).

Excellent reminder for those of us (like me), who can give in to fear of man, or become distracted by the goings on of the world.
