Pastor David’s Weekly Devotional
Last week we began looking at the many truths found in the epistle of 1 John concerning the Christian’s assurance of salvation. Where our “security” of salvation lies in the objective reality, the “assurance” of our salvation is subjective. That is, a person can have a false assurance of salvation – thinking he is saved when he is not. To help us in this, the apostle John gives several essential doctrines from which the Christian can “examine himself” and “test” the veracity of their saving faith in Christ (1Cor.11:28; 2Cor.13:5).
